Many research groups—including our group—in the field of nonviral gene delivery have been developing a large library of polycations for polyplex formation. The goal of my project is to quantitatively understand the binding behavior between DNA and promising polycations. Specifically, I study how the strength of DNA-polycation interactions evolves during a course of DNA-polycation mixing, and also how this evolution corresponds to the changes in DNA conformation. I look forward to making connections between the polycation’s structure and the characteristics of DNA-polycation binding.—
